WHIDPA - West Houston IDPA
West Houston IDPA (WHIDPA), as an IDPA club, emphasizes drawing from concealment, shooting while moving, shooting from behind cover, reloading, engagement of multiple targets, and most importantly safe gun handling. Matches are are excellent practice for Concealed Handgun License (CHL) holders.
New shooters (or new to IDPA) are always welcome and encouraged. Whether you're shooting or you just want to watch, we'll pair you up with an experienced IDPA shooter to answer your questions and provide guidance on the courses of fire. We meet at The Impact Zone Shooting Range outside of Brookshire, TX (see Where We Shoot for a map and directions).
Weekly matches are held each Wednesday evening. Sign-up begins around 5:00pm and the match begins at 6:00pm. Late arrivals are accepted until 6:30pm. Click here for Current ScoresWHIDPA meets for a larger IDPA match on the first Saturday of the month. Sign-up begins around 8:30am and the match begins at 9:00am. We depend on the shooters to help set up matches. So show up an hour early and help set up to keep the match fees reasonable and matches starting on time.
The club meets for a monthly multi-gun (carbine, pistol, shotgun) match on the second Saturday of each month. Sign-up begins at 8:30am and the match begins at 9:00am.
WHIDPA also holds a fourth Sunday event. The event topic varies from month to month and is announced here. The fourth Sunday event may be a practice match, fun match BUG gun match Shotgun match, etc. The practice matches are an opportunity to get some coaching from more experienced shooters.
The cost of each IDPA match is $18 and the multi-gun match fee is $22. There is also an annual Insurance fee of $10 payable at your first match of the policy period and is good for all 3 types of matches.
Not an IDPA member and want to give it a try. The match fee, concealment and holster requirements are waived for your first IDPA match.
